MANAFEST STONES: ALBUM REVIEW

MANAFEST’S BRAND NEW ALBUM “STONES” WAS RELEASED TODAY AND IT IS AWESOME! FOR ME, IT PERSONALLY ISN’T AS GOOD AS “THE CHASE”, WHICH HAS BEEN  MY FAVORITE MANAFEST ALBUM STILL, FOR ALMOST A DECADE. MY PERSONAL FAVORITES ARE FIRESTARTER, BLOW YOU AWAY, MERRY GO ROUND, COMING BACK, AND STONES. THIS ALBUM BLENDS ROCK, REGGAE, POP, METAL, RAP, AND MANY OTHER GENRES INTO AN AWESOME MIX WITH A GREAT BASS GUITAR PRESENCE.

HERE IS A SONG BY SONG REVIEW BELOW:

STONES

THE TITLE TRACK OF THE ALBUM, “STONES” IS ONE OF THE FEW ACTUAL RAP/ROCK SONGS OFF THE ALBUM, AS WELL AS THE FIRST SINGLE, WHICH HAS BEEN AVAILABLE FEBRUARY. IT HAS A GOOD MESSAGE ABOUT NEVER GIVING UP AND SPREADING THE GOSPEL NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS. INSPIRED BY JOHN 8:6

RATING: 4.4/5.0

HOUSE OF CARDS

“HOUSE OF CARDS” IS THE SECOND SINGLE AND IS A OKAY ROCK SONG, HOWEVER IT’S KINDA SHORT AND NEVER UNLEASHES IT’S FULL POWER AND POTENTIAL. ALTHOUGH IT’S ISSUES IT’S STILL A GOOD SONG, BUT IT’S DEFINITELY IT’S ONE OF THE WEAKER SONGS OFF THE ALBUM, HOWEVER.

RATING: 3.6/5.0

FIRESTARTER

PROBABLY THE MOST ANTICIPATED SONG OFF THIS ALBUM DO TO IT’S SAMPLE RELEASED BACK A COUPLE MONTHS AGO, FIRESTARTER DELIVERS, AND IT’S BETTER THAN I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE WITH SOME AWESOME GUITAR AND BASS RUNNING THROUGHOUT. DEFINITELY LISTEN TO THIS ONE WITH HEADPHONES.

RATING: 4.7/5.0

WHEN THE TRUTH COMES OUT

IF THERE’S ANY SONG THAT SURPRISED ME, IT WAS THIS ONE, I WENT IN EXPECTING A SLOWER SONG BECAUSE OF THE SAMPLE RELEASED, BUT NO, IT ACTUALLY MANAGES TO INCORPORATE ROCK INTO A SLOWER, SOFTER SONG, AND SOUNDS REALLY COOL! HOWEVER IT’S PRE-CHORUS HAS REALLY WEAK LYRICS.

RATING: 3.8/5.0

FIND A WAY TO FIGHT

HAS A REPETITIVE BEAT, AS WELL AS A CHORUS THAT GOES THROUGHOUT. IT’S DEFINITELY A WEAKER TRACK DESPITE IT’S COOL GUITAR. IT ACTUALLY GETS FAIRLY ANNOYING.

RATING: 3.5/5.0

YOU’RE GONNA RISE

A SLOWER SONG OFF THE ALBUM, IT’S STILL PRETTY GOOD, BUT IT FEELS A LITTLE FAMILIAR.

RATING: 4.2/5.0

BLOW YOU AWAY

ONE THE BEST SONGS ON THE ALBUM WITH AN AWESOME ROCK GUITAR, BLOW YOU AWAY HAS A PROMISING SOUND THAT I ACTUALLY THINK SHOULD HAVE CRANKED UP JUST A SMIDGE TO GIVE IT A MORE METAL FEEL, AND IT WOULD SOUND EXTREMELY COOL.

RATING: 4.6/5.0

COMING BACK

CLEVERLY BLENDING ROCK, REGGAE, RAP, POP, AND EVEN METAL AND ELECTRONICA, THIS DEFINITELY ONE OF THE BETTER TRACKS AND REALLY TOOK ME OFF GUARD AFTER THE TEASER THAT MANAFEST RELEASED WHERE IT WAS JUST REGGAE. LISTEN TO IT ABOVE, IT’S REALLY GOOD, IT’S ONE OF THE BEST SONGS OF MANAFEST’S CAREER.

RATING: 4.4/5.0

MERRY GO ROUND

THE BEST SONG OFF THE ALBUM IN MY OPINION, IT HAS GREAT BASS AND GUITAR. ANOTHER HEADPHONE ROCKER.

RATING: 4.7/5.0

AMPILIFIER

A MORE UPBEAT VERSION SOFTER SONG WHICH HAS A ELECTRONICA VIBE, FEATURING ALICIA SIMILIA, WHO SUNG ON “FEARLESS”, OFF MANAFEST’S LAST ALBUM, I WASN’T SURE OF THIS SONG AT FIRST BUT IT’S DEFINITELY GROWING ON ME.

RATING: 4.1/5.0

THE LAST SONG OFF THE ALBUM, “WON’T GIVE UP” WAS ACTUALLY RELEASED OVER A YEAR AGO, SEEMINGLY A CUT SONG FORM REBORN THAT MADE IT ONTO THIS ALBUM, GOOD SONG, JUST OFF BEAT WITH THE ALBUM FLOW.

RATING: 4.2/5.0

OVERALL, THIS ALBUM IS ACTULLY PRETTY GOOD, DESPITE IT’S FLAWS. IT DEFINTELY DELIVERS, HOWEVER, SOME NEEDS TO TELL MANA TO BRING THE RAP SIDE BACK. THE LACK OF RAP ON THIS ALBUM (STONES AND BLOW YOU AWAY WERE ON OF THE FEW RAP SONGS), IT DEFINITELY SIGNALS A DEFINITE CHANGE FOR MANAFEST AND FEATURES THE ALWAYS AWESOME JOE RICKARD ON DRUMS (HE USED T BE THE TOUR DRUMMER, AS WELL AS THE DRUMMER FOR RED AND PILLAR), IT ALSO HAS A GOOD, EMPOWERING MESSAGE OF NEVER BACKING DOWN, NO MATTER HOW MANY PEOPLE THROW “STONES” IN YOUR WAY.

OVERALL ALBUM RATING: 4.3/5.0
